Job Description:
Spire is a State Approved Special Education school, grades 8-12,
for students with social and/or emotional challenges that impact
the student's ability to thrive in a typical academic setting. Our
model of individualized social-emotional wellness plans and our
small group academic setting (classes are typically 6:1, some are
smaller) make us unique, and 70-80% of our students are
district-placed.Candidates for the position must have a
demonstrated passion for teaching and a collaborative style to work
on a team prepared to meet the individualized needs of each student
enrolled in our school. If you have had experience with this type
of differentiated instruction, writing IEPs, coaching students, and
daily challenges, then you are a candidate for this position. Our
school has 60-65 students enrolled and has a strong, established
team of leaders, teachers, and Life Coaches who collaborate for the
common goal of having each child reach their full personal
potential.The successful candidate will meet the following
requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Music or related field
(Master's degree preferred)-Candidates must hold valid Connecticut
state teacher certification in the content area(Comprehensive,
049-Music)- 2 years of experience teaching special education
student populations preferred- Familiar with the IEP process and
the collection of progress monitoring data- Create and maintain an
orderly and aesthetic learning environment that accounts for
students'social, emotional, and executive functioning needs-
Commitment to helping children of all abilities reach their full
potential- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a
collaborative, enthusiastic style to fitwith our small, dedicated

Maintain a safe and motivating school environment--- Assist with
Adjusting the physical environment to accommodate changing student
needs Professional Growth:--- Provide appropriate in-service
training, workshops, and meetings to keep staff informed of current

research and literature in Special Education to assist staff in
