Job Description


The Propulsion Plant Team Trainer (PPTT) Programs & Engineering (PPE) subdivision is a multi-site organization engaged in the design, fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, and delivery of the PPTT, a full scale propulsion plant hardware simulator, to support the Next Generation Training Program (NGTP). PPE engineers are responsible for: PPTT components and modules, the interactive portion of the simulated environment, which will be integrated into the overall trainer; electrical and systems engineering of the trainer and supporting infrastructure; PPTT Integration, the holistic physical training envelope and supporting structure and interconnections; and project management of all related work efforts.

An exciting opportunity is now available for entry-level multidisciplined engineers to support these ongoing efforts; this work consists of a mixture of mechanical, materials, electrical, and facilities engineering disciplines and favors a well-rounded candidate. This posting is open to engineers willing to work at either the Bettis Site (PA) or the Kesselring Site (NY).


The successful candidate for this position will:
--- Plan and conduct independent work efforts throughout the project lifecycle
--- Interface with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are being met
--- Perform design reviews and technical interchanges with Suppliers as well as internal NNL stakeholders
--- Review and disposition Supplier design submittals to validate designs based on technical requirements
--- Support on-site hardware inspections and testing of production equipment at Supplier facilities and remote NNL sites



Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill


Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field.



Preferred Skills


Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to think creatively and make recommendations to senior project personnel
Ability to work independently or in a group setting
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Pay Range


$62,000.00 - $94,900.00 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
